RESULTS

Since our founding in 2002, MCD has partnered in a combined investment of $5 million in and real estate, in Wanye County and Genesee County area including 318 units of affordable housing, plus community space for support services, youth programs, a homeless youth drop-in center, a community garden, and commercial space for our social enterprise.  MCD has connected more than 1000 young people to opportunities, such as education, jobs, and housing.  MCD has is opening a  permanent WorkPlacement Center to connect residents to jobs.  MCD has been recognized for its contributions to community safety and neighborhood beautification, and launched a social enterprise.

In 2008, the MetLife Foundation and Local Initiatives Support Corporation honored MCD, LA Police Department, and LA City Attorney’s Office with a Community-Police Partnership Award for a successful Graffiti Free Zone.  The Zone reduced crime in Vernon-Central and employed local youth to remove graffiti.

In 2012, CRCD was recognized by the California Council for Excellence with a prestigious California Award for Performance Excellence, which entails rigorous review process and a best practices & awards conference.

In 2013, CRCD’s public safety work was honored by the MetLife Foundation and Local Initiatives Support Corporation.  CRCD, LA Police Department, All Peoples Community Center, and Thomas Safran Associates jointly received a Community-Police Partnership award, in recognition of community efforts to reduce neighborhood crime around the Dunbar Village affordable housing project.
